Llengua indígena de la família mataco-mataguaya  parlada a la regió del Gran Chaco. És l'idioma nadiu del poble wichí, una de les comunitats originàries més nombroses del nord d'Argentina (a Salta, Formosa i Chaco) i del sud de  Bolívia (a Tarija). 

An indigenous language of the Mataco-Mataguayan family spoken in the Gran Chaco region. It is the native language of the Wichí people, one of the most numerous indigenous communities in northern Argentina (in Salta, Formosa, and Chaco) and southern Bolivia (in Tarija).
