Llengua extinta de la branca oriental de les llengües germàniques. Era la llengua pròpia dels gots, tant dels ostrogots com dels visigots. El seu ús es va estendre per gran part d'Europa (des d'Alemanya a Bulgària i Crimea fins a Itàlia, Catalunya i Espanya) arran de les invasions godes dels segles IV i V.

Extinct language of the eastern branch of the Germanic languages. It was the language of the Goths, both Ostrogoths and Visigoths. Its use spread throughout much of Europe (from Germany to Bulgaria and Crimea to Italy, Catalonia and Spain) following the Goth invasions of the 4th and 5th centuries.
